George DuBose is the grandson of Hampden DuBose Academy’s founders – Dr. & Mrs. Pierre W. DuBose. Mr. DuBose was born and raised on the mission field in Brazil. His passion for international missions and equipping students with real-world experience is the vision behind HDA’s 4 stream approach to educating students. Mr. DuBose is an active member of the school’s community with his wife, Gail, and their three children.

Mrs. DuBose is an active part of the HDA community. Her presence brings life and laughter to the campus. Mrs. DuBose volunteers her time to the school’s numerous events and daily happenings. She offers extra attention to making the Senior class experience one to remember. All three of Mr. and Mrs. DuBose’s children have attended HDA from Pre-K through 12th grade – except their youngest daughter, Abbey, who is currently in Middle School at HDA.

Mr. Jackson has been in Christian School Administration for 29 years, the last 12 years at HDA. He has his undergraduate degree from Central Bible College (where he met and married his wife of 36 years, Janice) and his Masters from Texas Christian University. Mr. Jackson has served as Youth Pastor, Pastor, and Financial and Business Administration Officer. His professional experience and lifelong passion for discipleship has prepared him to lead HDA as a school that truly understands the heart, mind, and soul of how to prepare young people to face today’s challenges.

Mr. Jim Powell

Dean of Students

5 Years at HDA

Mr. Powell is the founder and President of Inter-United Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to spreading friendship around the world through soccer and music. He is also the Pastor of Storehouse Ministries. For over 20 years, Mr. Powell has coached soccer teams while focusing on developing youth to be leaders in their communities. He is passionate about teaching, surfing, his wife Jennie, and their three children: Joy, Kim, and James.

Assistant Principal and Academic Specialist

3 Years at HDA

Mr. Reynolds has a BA in Psychology with a Minor in History from Flagler College. He has 15 years of experience in education, 19 years working with children from 6 years old to young adults, and over 21 years coaching soccer. His passion for seeing young students succeed fuels his attentiveness for each student. Mr. Reynolds is passionate about missions work in Haiti and travels several times a year to serve a brother in the faith, Ed Lockett, in being the hands and feet of Christ to the local communities of Petit Goave.

Mrs. Love is the welcoming smile that greets each family in the HDA office. She cannot see herself doing anything but working with the wonderful families and children at HDA. Mrs. Love truly enjoys building relationships with each family. She also enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, being outdoors, and reading.

Mrs. Boccuzzo has a BA from UCF in News/Editorial Journalism with a minor in Health Sciences. She is passionate about her family and four kids. Her dream is to travel the world with her husband and to bring as many orphans into their home as possible. Mrs. Boccuzzo is a member of the eldership at her church and has traveled abroad for international outreach.

8 Years at HDA

Mrs. Brown is currently enrolled at Western Governor’s University for Elementary Education. She was principal of Covenant Light School, an umbrella school for home-school families. Mrs. Brown enjoys teaching elementary Science – which reveals how amazing God is, Art – which reveals His beauty and creativity, and geography – which reveals the individuality of His people. Currently, she serves as the HDA librarian.

NILD Director

14 Years at HDA

Mrs. Deem holds a Bachelor of Arts degree with over 21 years experience as an Educational Therapist with the National Institute for Learning Development. Mrs. Deem’s passion is for students whose natural love of learning has changed into a painful struggle. Mrs. Deem knows that an understanding of causes for such difficulty and acceptance of discipline to strengthen weak areas provide a means of overcoming these challenges.

12 Years at HDA

Mrs. Estre has a BA in Physical Education for K-12 w/ K-8 Science. A seasoned professional with experience teaching all grades and all subjects, Mrs. Estre is a certified NILD Educational Therapist and has presented at many Pilgrim Institute conferences. She loves spending time with her family and grandchildren and becoming a better teacher and Educational Therapist through research and self-education.

Mr. Griffin has a BA in Christian Studies from the Baptist College of Florida. His passion lies in educating students and inspiring them to use their minds to think in challenging ways. Mr. Griffin has been working with Mud Ministries for 6 years and leads worship for their youth ministry regularly. In his spare time, Mr. Griffin enjoys reading.

Mrs. Jackson has a BA in Music from Central Bible College in Springfield, MS, with a K-8 Teacher’s Certificate – FACCS. Mrs. Jackson utilizes her love of history and literature to see students plant enduring principles in their lives. Her lifelong love has been in preparing middle school students in the learning skills that will prepare them for their high school studies. Outside of the classroom, she loves being a grandmother, gardening, and reading as much as possible.

Mrs. Mang has a BA in Humanities and an Elementary Education certificate. Mrs. Mang is passionate about teaching children. Seeing children excited about learning, coming up with learning strategies, and seeing the “light bulb of understanding” wash over their faces makes her day. She enjoys painting, refinishing furniture, DIY projects, sewing, reading, and gardening.

Mr. Murdock has a BS in Political Science: International Relations/ Comparative Politics and a Minor in Mathematics from the University of Central Florida. He has gained valuable experience in mentoring middle and high school students after years of running camps, retreats, and events for youth groups. In addition to teaching his specialty, Mathematics, he loves to coach soccer, play guitar, and read a good novel. Mr. Murdock is an active songwriter, vocalist, and guitarist for iU Band.

Mrs. Murdock has a BA in Studio Art from Rollins College. She is an artist, soccer player, and co-owner of Raggamuffin – a business that helps give sustainable income to those with limited opportunity in Kenya and in communities around the world. Mrs. Murdock is passionate about teaching women a trade that they can use as a tool in their lives. She believes art is healing; her goal is to encourage students to try art and to have fun with the experience.

Mr. Powell has a BA in Music Performance from Rollins College, with a focus on Piano and Voice Performance. He is an active musician and worship leader in the community and abroad. Mr. Powell speaks fluent Mandarin; he and his wife have lived in China and work to visit yearly – most recently completing a semester of study and a month-long tour with his band – iU Band. Mr. Powell enjoys sharing his passion for China and musical pursuits with students of all ages.

Ms. Roberts has a BS in Psychology from the University of Central Florida. She has five years of professional childcare experience. Ms. Roberts has a heart for children all over the world and seeks to encourage each child to reach his or her full potential. She also enjoys writing, traveling and spending time outdoors.

Ms. White has a BS in Biblical Studies from Luther Rice University.  She has training in the American Christian Philosophy of History, Government, and Education from Pilgrim Institute. Ms. White has a passion for Bible, History, Literature, the spread of the gospel, and the principles of liberty. Teaching children is a daily inspiration for her. Ms. White says her greatest joy is to see students learn and grow. She is inspired by their faith and hunger to learn. Her hobbies include horses, music, nature, and books.

Property Maintenance & Mechanical Restoration

6 Years at HDA

Mr. DuBose is currently pursuing his AA in Business Administration. After graduating from HDA, Mr. DuBose moved to Argentina for hands-on missions training. He later attended Bible college before returning home to rejoin the HDA family. Mr. DuBose is a manager in the school’s co-op program; he teaches students essential skills in mechanics and maintenance while instilling his gift of servant leadership.

Mr. Love is a resource to all students and staff at HDA. His teaching is driven by his passion to assist students in successfully incorporating technology into their learning environment.

Mr. David Lowery

Groundskeeper – Retired ’14

64 Years at HDA

Mr. Lowery is an active part of the legacy at HDA. After 64 years, no one knows the school’s history quite like Mr. David. He began working for HDA’s founder “Doc” and has been a part of the campus community ever since. Mr. Lowery retired after the 2012-2013 school year and is greatly missed. In his honor we keep his picture as a part of the staff to mark his decades of service to our community. Thank you Mr. David for all you have done for HDA.

Mrs. Troesch is passionate about encouraging students as they grow and discover who they are through creative arts. As an art teacher for many years, she is a firm believer that art feeds the heart beyond just the tangible. She strives to cultivate an environment where students of all ages are empowered to express themselves while learning. In addition to teaching, she has heart for traveling and sharing love with people through creative collaboration.
